Q: Tell us about your journey with Ernesta – from discovering the brand to the moment your custom rugs were installed. What drew you in?
A: Well, it never made sense to me that rugs come in only specific sizes, at least from the consumer perspective! So, when I found out about Ernesta, my eyes really lit up. I'm the founder of Untitled Secret and Untitled Social, and when I was beginning to furnish my new office, the option to configure my space with custom-sized rugs was exactly what I was looking for. Receiving samples was super easy and after using some tape to map out spaces on the ground, it was just a matter of clicking a few buttons and waiting for the order to arrive. Unrolling the rugs when they arrived was such a fun moment. One of our talent, Harry Hill, was using a conference room to record a podcast episode and I interrupted him and kicked him out because I was too excited to get the rug in as soon as it arrived!
Q: What made you opt for custom-sized rugs for your office space? Was there something specific you were looking to solve or enhance in the space?
A: Being able to get any rug that I want in a size that specifically matches the space — it’s a game changer. Especially in this office which doesn’t have many walls; the rugs actually provide definition to the space, so it’s important to be very specific with what those sizes are. And the three areas that do have walls are little conference rooms – in the past they would’ve been individual offices, but in 2026 they act as phone booths or conference rooms for client and talent calls. The thing is, they are all concrete and hard surfaces. Our office is this really gorgeous, industrial space, but that means there are a lot of hard surfaces and we needed some rugs to soften things up, so getting essentially wall-to-wall rugs was an important objective for these rooms.
Q: What did you hope to achieve in designing your office, both aesthetically and functionally?
A: The sound issue was something that was driving my team crazy when we first moved in, so I definitely needed to solve that. Additionally, a rug goes such a long way in transforming the space with just a single item, so I basically took a mood board that included a lot of warm earth tones and added in the plushness of the rugs I chose from Ernesta to pretty instantly transform a stern, blank space into something that feels both modern and warm.
Q: How does your workspace represent your personal brand and the types of clients you work with?
A: The fun thing for me about this office space was that it literally offered a blank canvas to invest in a new design and aesthetic that’s completely different from my home, which feels a little more rustic. I really wanted to lean into earlier 20th century designs that reference Bauhaus and a little bit of art deco by including lots of chrome and hard surfaces that are balanced with the warmth of terracotta, leather, and wood.
In terms of functionality, it’s important that we have plenty of areas to have breakout work sessions as well as host clients and invite our talent in a comfortable, inspiring setting. My work is so visible across social media that it also needs to be an extension of the sort of lifestyle I put out there so clients can experience that in real life.
Q: How did the custom-sized rugs transform your space? Any moments or details that stand out?
A: It was a huge transformation! Each rug really grounds a space and draws you into each specific area. I particularly love the Sienna plush rug against the chrome and leather of the cantilevered Mies van der Rohe MR Chairs in our dining area that I got off Facebook Marketplace. The combination exemplifies the warm, modern aesthetic that I was going for.
Q: What are you most excited about in this new office space, and how it supports your work?
A: Having a place where the team and I can host and entertain is so exciting. We hosted our holiday party in the space and I’ve already had countless coffee meetings here. Our location is near the Brooklyn Navy Yard which, if you’re a New Yorker, you know is not the easiest to get to when it comes to public transportation. But any frustration about the location disappears immediately when you walk into the space which is now so airy, warm, and welcoming — and productive of course, too!
